In 2006, the National Institute For Drug Abuse conducted a survey of prescription drug use and results showed that 16.2 million americans age 12 and older had taken prescription pain relievers, tranquilizers, stimulants, or sedatives for non medical purposes, at least once in the year prior to the survey.
In my opinion, this is a heartbreaking statistic, but yet a reality. Changes need to be made... even 1 life is worth saving!
Changes to help prevent drug use and abuse among pre-teens, teens, and even young adults require a strong family connection and support network, reframing from negativety, developing positive interaction techniches with the focus on the present not the past.
EDUCATION on ADDICTION and RECOVERY is the 'key' for all members involved, and the desire to help set boundaries for the 'addict' without enabling previous behavior and choices.
The problem with addtion is that it's not just confined to the addict only, become aware and educate yourself.
WORRY.....LOOKS AROUND
SORRY......LOOKS BACK
FAITH.....LOOKS AHEAD AND NEVERS GIVES UP

It is heartbreaking. And you're doing what we all need to do, first acknowledge it and then we can start talking.
